Circular Knits on Mayer&Cie

Industrial knits made on Mayer & Cie circular knitting machine. The patterns of the knits play with tactility, using the natural properties of the technique and yarns to create texture. They remind of the rhythms in nature, hinting to moss in a forest, a stone path leading through see-through water or a repetition of leaves on branches.

A stiff colored yarn is combined with a flexible cotton-lycra and some viscose for shine. After washing the tension between the stiff colored yarn and the lycra creates a tactile, pop-up texture in the fabric.

The sample is made in two colourways. The first one is made in a green cotton, with cotton-lycra and viscose. Creating a pop-up effect in the surface texture of the fabric.

The darker one is made in a dark blue wool, cotton-lycra and viscose. After washing the wool parts become felted and melt together with the white background. This creates a different, softer texture.
